The Marine Instrumentation Corporation (MSC) will set up a development center at Innopolis University to test unmanned navigation systems and underwater drones, which will begin operations in 2022. Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan Roman Shaikhutdinov announced this in an interview with TASS.
"In September, we signed an agreement with KMP to set up a development center at Innopolis University. On the basis of the new center, ships for geophysical and hydrotechnical research will be designed and built. Russia today does not have its own vessels to carry out such research, which would be able to pass along rivers to any seas. The design of such a vessel will begin in the first half of next year using the developments of the Marine Instrumentation Corporation, the Innopolis University and the Ak Bars company"
According to him, a list of research projects is being formed now.
"We plan that the center will begin work next year, - he added, noting that the development center will be engaged in testing underwater drones and unmanned navigation systems."
The first real tests are scheduled for the spring of 2022 and will begin with the opening of navigation on the Volga.
