Ams AG, the world's leading supplier of high-performance sensor solutions, today announced the launch of the world's most accurate digital temperature sensor AS6221.
· AS6221 is a complete temperature sensor system with a measurement accuracy of ±0.09°C, and its performance is better than similar digital temperature sensor chips on the market
· With the help of this sensor, health monitoring products can achieve more accurate human/skin temperature measurement performance
· Adopt miniature package, size is only 1.5mm x 1mm
· The temperature sensor has excellent performance, bringing new value and creativity to high-end electronic equipment and thermal temperature monitoring applications in data centers
AS6221 can achieve a measurement accuracy of ±0.09°C in the temperature range of 20°C to 42°C, which is suitable for measuring human body and skin temperature. In today's market, there is no other similar digital temperature sensor that can achieve a measurement accuracy better than ±0.10°C.
The AS6221 uses a WLCSP package with a size of only 1.5 mm x 1 mm. The power consumption is 6µA when the output data rate is 4Hz, and the power consumption is only 0.1µA in standby mode.
This compact, ultra-low-power, high-performance sensor is very suitable for battery-powered portable wearable electronic devices, such as health status or fitness monitoring wristbands, and smart watches. In addition, in high-end computing systems and servers, it can also be used to precisely adjust the processor's operating conditions to maximize system throughput while avoiding overheating.
The launch of AS6221 has consolidated ams Semiconductor’s position in the health monitoring technology market. In addition, ams has also introduced blood oxygen saturation measurement sensors AS7038RB and biosensors AS7030B for medical imaging systems in this field. Existing products such as NanEye series image sensors for endoscopes.
Alexander Rensink, position sensor business manager of ams, said: "In high-end consumer products, such as smart watches and health detection wristbands, skin temperature is a key indicator. Therefore, design engineers need to invest a lot of time and energy. , Trying to achieve and verify high-precision temperature measurement under all working conditions. The AS6221 launched today makes this work easier, not only providing more accurate measurement results, but also simplifying the integration of temperature sensing in the system. And can flexibly support a certain range of working voltage."
In the entire supply voltage range of 1.7V to 3.6V, AS6221 can achieve high-precision measurement. In contrast, other similar high-precision competitive products on the market can only achieve the highest accuracy at a certain voltage point, and the accuracy of the measurement results in the remaining operating voltage range will be reduced.
The measurement conversion time of this sensor from ams is as short as 35ms. Its full operating temperature range is -40°C to 125°C.
AS6221 is a complete digital temperature sensor system without calibration or linearization. It provides measurement output through a standard I2C interface and contains eight I2C addresses.
AS6221 also provides an alarm function to remind users when the temperature exceeds a threshold. The temperature value of the alarm function can be set by the host processor through the device's register instruction set.
